It's time to hold Apple's feet to the fire. Being soft on them isn't helping them.
I agree. Tough love is best here. It's better to have the vulnerabilities exposed in this manner than in a live scenario. Let's just hope the press from this is enough for Apple to fix the problem before we have something bigger than a proof-of-concept exploit.

Are people still thinking this is coming out next week? There haven't been any other updates since this story was released and I'm starting to doubt it's going to happen on Tuesday. I'd love to know what GPU the 27" is going to have.
iMac is due, but having doubts about next Tues now since Apple is still shipping current models within 24 hours.

It looks like the menu text default has dropped from 14pt Lucida Grande in Tiger to 13pt Lucida Grande in Leopard -- a welcome change.

Crazy. I'm at work right now, and like 3 people I work with just received text messages saying Osama was dead.

He is living his life. I agree with a lot of his "quotes". AA is crap, people are trolling him and he may just be a rockstar from Mars (Lil Wayne is an alien after all). He seems to love his kids and his women do too. What's worse? Someone with an alternative lifestyle that takes care of their kids or someone with a "great lifestyle" that beats them on the side. They look healthy to me.
People are pissed because he stood up and talked out about Chuck and many people (union members, yuck) are out of jobs for now. If they were still getting paid they wouldn't be whining. Also it shows how powerful he is if a whole production is shut down without him. Should he go on for others? I don't think so. He doesn't agree with it and won't do it.
I say go epic on the world Mr. Sheen.
+1 If you actually listen to what he says, he makes some pretty good points. I think a lot of people don't listen and just read the headlines, so they assume he is a terrible person. He may not be the best example for kids, but he is doing what he wants with his life because it is... his life, and he seems to be making some pretty strong arguments.

Apple has received a great deal of favorable publicity in the last year as it introduced the iPhone and increased market share in computer sales. Whenever a company gets that kind of publicity, a number of people will buy its stock simply because it was mentioned in the newspapers, without really analyzing whether the stock was actually worth that or not. This halo effect can last as long as six months to a year, but it disappears on the appearance of any bad news, in this case a market downturn.
Apple was grossly overvalued because of all the publicity, so it was the first stock to be dumped when the market turned down. Now it is probably grossly undervalued. Personally, I stay away from volatility. There are too many people who are trading stocks, as opposed to investing in companies. There is a big difference. One is looking for a quick profit on a short-term change in price; the other is looking for long-term accumulation of value.
The short-term traders often do quite well and they brag about their successes, but overall their investments do not do as well as if they had put their money in slot machines in Vegas. That is why I stay away from volatility.

Corporate policy is always going to put the safety of employees first, so that usually means not letting them get dragged into violent situations. However, I would like to think that McDonalds would also stand by and support an employee who made a common sense judgement to try and calm a situation like that. Having said that, they should also respect if the employees didn't feel comfortable stepping in. Like iJohnHenry says, they aren't the police, they work in a restaurant.
There seemed to be a lot of staff in the fringes of the video, I am sure they could have done something. Good on the manager and member of the public for trying to stop them. I guess having the video footage must also help. I'd rather not have my hair pulled out than get a good conviction though!

So sincere curiosity here: I've read the reviews and it seems like this browser can't do all the Flash-related stuff a personal would normally want to do, ranging from some popular video sites like Hulu to Flash games. I'm not missing Flash on my iPhone or iPad one bit, but I'm also a little curious at this browser's success. Is it mostly people downloading something because they feel like they're getting a thing they were told they couldn't get? Or does this product actually offer something excellent?
You're absolutely spot on here. Nothing excellent, just a short-term sense of victory over a perceived hurdle for lots of folks. I persinally have no use whatsoever for Flash on my iphone so I did not buy this app.

Can I get an Amen? This is just M$ trying to frack with Mac switchers who still want to use Windows on their Macs. I don't know anyone who as ever read any M$ EULA in any great detail - but, if they start an urban legend that it's "illegal" to use Windows on a Mac, then people won't read the EULA and just believe M$ will somehow find out they're emulating Vista on their MacBook and shut off the installation remotely. Look at how much gobbledygook M$ has already put out about Vista and "activation", piracy, and other "security" measures.
These aren't the droids you're looking for. You can go about your business. Move along, move along.
I presently use a copy of windows xp pro on my macbook, which actually came in a bundle pack from Dell for the computer in my office. I don't see how Vista will be any different, and if something went wrong with it on my computer, I'd hardly be distraught since OS X would be unharmed. What's Microsquat gonna do? Fry my Hard Drive? Since the vast majority of mac users will most likely be using Vista and Windoze of old as a second tier operating system, I and I'm sure many others fail to see the threat. But it's their product, and they ARE free to do what they wish with it, but I think that although this may be golden for MS on the business sector, I also agree with many here that anyone and everyone that makes, takes and remakes pirated Windows software will do so even faster, since no one likes to bloodlet their wallets.

How are you going to reduce the number of cables? It seems like you would still need the same number of cables.
reducing the number of cables connected to his computer is what he would be doing. Just one TB could possibly handle all of the cables through a hub.

I can read Wiki too...
GPL is a license. GNU is a foundation. I corrected as to the licensing terminology..
Per your 12 years, trump - my 25...
By the way - openstep is an evolution of nextstep when next went "open source". it may of been put of the GNU license, but it wasnt there back in 1984 when it all started... Per Saiman, If you know WHY he left MIT in the first place (after all you might want to read the whole wiki), youd know what was going through his mind in the creation of GNU.
Lastly, the Minix kernel came from Posix. So the path Posix->Minix->Linux is valid.

I wouldn't buy one with a two year contract. It makes no sense to be locked in with a phone that technically is already 1 year old unless you have a specific reason (e.g. your current phone breaks or gets stolen).
I wonder what Apples plan for iP5 are. It makes no sense to shift the release date because too many people have their contracts expire in June/July/August and won't buy a new phone until iP5 is out. That means the revenue that Apple could have had in June will be shifted by a few month and that is not good.

Take the fight to them Sammy! Don't give in to the bully that Apple has become.
Even more entertaining is the fact that Apple is so arrogant they fail to realize how stupid they look.
Suing their biggest vendor.
It doesn't get any more stupid than that.

They're still using this piece of marketing on the iMac page:
The iMac display looks great from any seat in the house, thanks to a premium display technology called in-plane switching (IPS). IPS gives you a bright picture with excellent color — even if you’re viewing the display from the side.
EDIT: Lots of people beat me; irrelevant post.

Well Apple has used up all the "big cat" names like Tiger and Lion which means that either OS 11 is underway or they will be in the embarassing situation of having to use lesser cat names which imply "less".
Ocelot, Cheetah, Cougar, Fluffy, etc......
I for one am ready for OS 11.0 "Merlot"
Heh, 10.0 was named Cheetah.
