So I have been to Pierce Ink down in SJ (where I got the surface bar)
Took a few of their business cards, glued one to top my art supply box, also grabbed a few business cards from Fatty Zone(trained at Pierce Ink) in Mountian View, and have also glued it to my art supply box.(promoting the good) Currently carrying around their business cards inside, so if anyone wants to get pierced, I have at least two places that I trust that I can send them to.
I will swing by Body Modifications and Black & Blue Tattoo in SF. if you know that they are professional and reputable and do the same for them too.
By surface bar, do you mean one of the implanted bars that are under your skin? I heard there was a place in SJ that does that, is that Pierce Ink? I soooo want one, but I don't know anyone in SF who does them.
Re: Body Manipulations (www.bodym.com) in SF - they're wonderful! I've had two piercings (nothing major, just ears) and two cuttings done there. Definitely work a stop by if you're in SF.
Re: Black & Blue (www.blackandbluetattoo.com) - I've had three tattoos done there by both of the primary owners of the business. Natalie did a tree frog (which she also drew for me) on the back of my right arm, and Idexa did blackwork moon cycles on my right forearm and a blackwork kitten between my breasts. They're pretty solid, and I've been happy with their work. Also, they're waaaay in to cleanliness and hygene, and just got the interior of the business remodeled.
Cheers!

I am very unimpressed. No Wifi, no 65nm process, no internal power supply, it will still be loud as heck. And if I want it, I am forced to get black, i don't want black.
Someone said why does it matter if their are 3 SKUS. Try this. Look at the Mac Mini, 2 models. One with a superdrive, one without. But what if you want the cheaper one with a superdrive. Whoops guess you are out of luck.
It forces you to buy the higher model. Only the Elite has the HDMI and the 120GB. Of course you could add the 120GB for the rip me off price of $180.
Let's compare that to the Mac Pro. One SKU customizable. No one is left out, you can choose what you want and you aren't limited to getting only certain things on another SKU. Most, including myself, prefer that model. What if Apple put Santa Rosa in the top end MB and left it out of the bottom? Not much of a choice, huh?
People like to think giving you a new SKU is adding to your choice. That isn't the case as you can see. Because in many cases the choice is made for you because you want something on in that one model.
Up until now, I never thought about a PS3. That has changed. Yeah you don't need HD-DVD but they put it out so you would buy it. And when you look at the pricing, the 360 is cheaper but you are getting a lot less. For $120 more than the 360 Elite, I get Blu-ray, media readers, wifi. I can even upgrade the drive to 160GB for only $110.
The PS3 is clearly the better system. If was going to spend retail price on a console it would be the PS3. Hands down.

Yep, i agree with the sentiments above. Far, far too much money being asked for. I've been a GQ subscriber for years. I pay maybe 20 bucks for an annual subscription. Why would I pay $3-4 an issue, especially when there are no additional features? Its literally just a PDF of the magazine. Not worth it guys. Want us to get iPad magazines? Make it cheaper, or justify the additional price with content!

Why not look at how divided we've become in the few years since 9/11?
Whatever lessons we could have learned about cooperation and mutual respect have quickly evaporated.
What good is a disaster if you don't actually learn from it?
Politically divided sure, but helping out a stranger during a crisis is still there. Remember Obama's speech (http://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-and-video/video/2011/01/12/president-obama-memorial-arizona) in Arizona? He called for a return to civility in politics and civility lasted, oh about 72 hours, then it was back to political snark and partisanship. But the ability for regular people to come together in a real time of need or crisis is still present.

I'm too chicken to install it, just like the SMC firmware update for the fans. I've had no problems at all with my MacBook (purchased in May) so I know it will screw something up. I know nobody cares but for some reason I wanted to post it. :(

Yep, it was definitely great to meet up with the MR folks and put some faces and names to the handles and avatars.
(Now, why do I look so creepy in the photo?)
I'll try to make it over tomorrow to see some of the stuff I missed today (mostly North Hall) and have another chat, but I can't guarantee it. I'll have to see how my day goes.

You can't drop the price and maintain the quality, champ...
Gordon Moore would probably beg to differ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore's_law). By the time Merom is out the current Yonah processors should become cheap enough to allow a $100-$200 price drop for a Mac mini.
The $900 iMac really is an institutional product, not aimed at personal users. Personally I think it'd work well as a corporate product too, if Apple could actually start selling to corporate customers.
It would work quite well as a secondary Mac in a multi-Mac family too...

Macworld reports (http://www.macworld.com/2006/11/firstlooks/rosetta/index.php) that based on their benchmarks, Apple's Rosetta PowerPC emulation technology for Intel Macs has seen up to 30% improvements in the latest version of Mac OS X (10.4.8).
Old news really. But good to see Macworld endorsing what we knew all along...

I continue to be amazed by the number of students at my community college that have iPhones. These are students who for the most part are struggling to make ends meet, yet were willing to spend their limited cash that way. There are at least two or three students with iPhones in each of my classes; two years ago, I didn't see any -- and mine was a curiosity to them.
people value what they value. do you think they are getting what they paid for in terms of education? probably not.

I'd rather Leopard was released later with fewer bugs and more stability, than sooner to compete with Vista (that isn't going to be adopted at the same speed anyway).
Thank you! Mac OS Tiger has been a really crappy experience for me. If I didn't have to lose some "tiger only" stuff I would switch back to Panther in a heartbeat.

I prefer to play it on ps3. Ordered mine and it is coming today or tomorrow.
Congrats. By buying the PS3 version, you also get the Mac and Windows versions too. Once you get the PS3 version, link it to a Steam account. Then download Steam on your Windows or Mac machine and redeem the code that comes in the PS3 box.
PS3 owners can also play co-op with Windows/Mac users. Save game progress however will not move between the PS3 and Windows/Mac.
The irony here is that people who buy the game for Microsoft's XBox 360 do not get a code for a copy on Microsoft Windows, and 360 owners can only play co-op with other 360 owners. Only by buying Sony, do you get Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac versions along with shared co-op play.
:) I bought it for Windows as such. No question, Window's allows the BEST gaming experience...both in hardware support, and W7:DX11 > OSX:OpenGL
You also bought the Mac version. There is no Windows only version, and thats the great thing. Much like Blizzard, Valve has signed onto the one release model, and is even trying to push that into the consoles. Buy the game, not the game for the platform. Play it on your beefy hand built Windows gaming PC, and your travel MacBook Pro. One copy.
Now if only more games would do this. I don't buy games from Feral, or Aspyr since they tend to be released way after the Windows version (with little to no pre-anouncement so I know to not buy the Windows one), and tend to add more DRM (Only version of Quake Wars that requires a disc is Aspyr's Mac version, Windows and Linux = no disc DRM crap). As much as I like to be a Mac gamer, I'm a gamer first, Mac owner second.

Depends on what you are doing in Enterprise. Think Reprographics. :apple:
Racks of servers for Reprography?
That can be handled by a desktop/workstation for the computing end, while the real work is done by the printer technology used to generate the actual output (banners, blueprints, ...).

Because you're buying a game. Not a box for one. The argument could be made, "why is the boxed version more expensive than the download version? That's one expensive useless box!"
Unless Valve is in the business of selling boxes it makes perfect sense.
no box version cheaper.. that's the point..

Bad move...
Obviously, there is huge demand for cheaper Macs. Cheap doesn't equal bad!
The reason there is a huge demand for cheaper Macs is simply because you can buy an HP for so little. If PCs started in price at $599, you wouldn't see people bellyaching about Mac prices. It's a market driven effect that really doesn't reflect the real market value of a PC in my opinion. Everyone trying to undercut each other just a little bit untill eventually everyone is cutting bone.
There is no reason this wouldn't work.
It wouldn't work. The reason PCs can be sold for that little is that the companies making them:
1) Don't do much of their own R&D work (they mostly follow others' lead)
2) Are making the costs up in volume (and Apple's volume isn't quite what Dell's is).
3) They offer inferior customer service to what I think most people here would argue is Apple's norm.
4) They have no software development costs. Think of all the programs that come on your Mac for free, not to mention OSX itself. PC makers are paying a licence fee to Microsoft that is paltry (and M$ makes it up on volume) but Apple has to fund development of OSX and the iApps somehow, and part of that higher Mac price goes to fund them. PC makers bundle lots of trialware and other software other companies have spent the development costs to make.

Just to clear up a few things, the schools network was fully protected, so I was working without any Internet. Despite this, I was still a threat? I'm pretty sure the IT guy was just an idiot. I'm tempted to take the air again... But that's probably a bad idea right? :(
And so you know, i'm 16 and in my last year of high school, studying music. Logics pretty great to have around, and the schools music software is just awful; so I'd really miss not having it with me...
Thanks for everyones interest in the subject, it's really appreciated.
Take it back, and continue to use it. If is asks for it tell him to get bent, not literally. But dont give it to him. Theres nothing he can do if the teachers dont mind you using it.

Lastly a form of prostitution is legal in certain Provinces.
Its highly dubious to claim that prostitution is discriminatory towards women (certainly its at least grey), its generally highly profitable for them.
When ethnic minority street prostitutes in Chinese border towns can turn down 100 (10) for 30 minutes work I think they are doing pretty well - that's more than I earn for 30 minutes work.

Salts of magnesium are used in fireworks, yes.
Chunks of metal? Nooooo, that would just be shrapnel. Setting magnesium metal on fire takes a lot of effort, so nobody get started on "I left my IPod in the sun for 20 minutes and it blew up!" threads.
cool... will see the inevitable return of the "man-auto-set-on-fire" urban legend... :D :D
